Engine Shop
Specialists in our Engine Rebuild Center handle each phase of the process from teardown to reassembly. All adjustments must be exact to make the engine perform at its optimum level.
Empire's Engine Shop is actually a collection of several specialized work areas. We have technicians to handle disassembly and reassembly. Other areas work to recondition engine blocks, build head assemblies and rebuild fuel systems.
The engine is completely disassembled with subsystems like the fuel system going to the various specialty areas. Gaskets are all discarded and gasket surfaces polished. Other wear items like pistons, cylinders, valves, fuel nozzles and bearings are replaced.
Our most experienced technicians handle the reassembly of the engine. Bolts must be torqued to precise specifications, valves adjusted and electrical connections secured. Cat engines pack plenty of power to tear themselves apart in a hurry if settings are not done exactly to spec.
Some subsystems can be tested after rebuilding before they are reattached to the engine. The fuel subsystem, for example, goes through extensive tests (left) to ensure all cylinders will receive the same amount of fuel throughout the engine's rpm range.
When engine reassembly is complete, we hook it up to our dyno and run it for hours under load. The dyno uses sophisticated controls to monitor the condition of dozens of engine functions.
By the time the engine goes back to the main shop, it enjoys all the specs of a new engine. Power, compression and fuel economy are what you expect from a new engine.
